The Rescaldina-based company, specialized in the manufacture of predispersed pigment preparations (Chips) for industrial use by the manufacturers of paints, inks, coatings and colorants, offers a specialized range of biodegradable Chips.
Growing concerns for a more sustainable future, given the delicate balance between economic, environmental and social factors, convinced Mifar of the need to develop a specific range of Chips designed for printing on biodegradable materials (Mater-bi). Predispersed in a nitrocellulose solution, Mifar’s Compostable Chips are used by manufacturers of inks for printing on biodegradable consumer media: from supermarket shopping bags to special packaging for food and non-food items.
The Compostable Chips by Mifar are VINCOTTE certified, in full compliance with the EN 13432 European standard, which defines the characteristics of “compostable” packaging (i.e.: recyclable through organic recovery). With this certification, Mifar is the only chips manufacturer that can guarantee the use of biodegradable pigments, which do not contain heavy metals or other prohibited substances. Mifar’s Compostable Chips are classified as state-of-the-art products with a high color intensity and offset printing tests provided excellent results in terms of brilliance.
In the words of Managing Director, Andrea Meli, Mifar substantiates its sensitivity to the subject of environmental sustainability:
Enterprises today are challenged to find increasingly innovative solutions to deal with the needs of a future that must become more and more eco-sustainable. We are pleased to be able to make a contribution to the supply chain by bringing our range of Compostable Chips to market.
